10 Things You Should Know About Me…

Later this week, I have the undeserved privilege of attending the Titus 2:1 Conference in Sterling, VA.

I am so looking forward to this time of getting to sit in the presence of and soak up the wisdom of other Christian, homeschooling Mom bloggers that have been where I am and are where I want to go.

Last week Stephanie over at Bowmania was kind enough to set up a little Top 10 Tuesday linky just for the Conference attendees to share “10 Things #2to1Conf Attendees Should Know About Me” so I thought it would be fun to add my 10 Things. 🙂

Yesterday… April 23rd, 2012
Top Row: Summer, 2007 ~ April, 2009 ~ May, 2009
Center Row: July, 2009 ~ November, 2009 ~ July, 2011
Bottom Row: October, 2011 ~ November, 2011 ~ February, 2012

10} I am a walking conundrum.
From my green eyes & dirty blonde hair (though it has gotten darker over the years) in a sea of family members with brown eyes & hair… to my country girl-raised-in-the-midst-of-a-city background, there are few things about me that are “simple.” ::Sigh::

9} I am a horrible, terrible, no good, very bad procrastinator.
Have you noticed how long ago my last blog post was??? (Pssst… I’m also not good at finishing things that I………….)

8} I never had the desire to marry or have children.
I have been married for 11 1/2 years & have four children. 🙂

7} I might be… well, just maybe… a little, slightly funny.
At least, I make my friends & family laugh a lot. ‘Course, they may be just laughing at me… Hmmmm….

6} I am a 2nd generation homeschooler.
I was homeschooled from 8th grade through graduation & have been homeschooling my children since my oldest  was of Kindergarten age back in 2007. We are Charlotte Mason-ers. 😉

5} I’ve been told more times than I can count that I should “be a writer” or that I should “write a book.”
But so far, I haven’t found a topic that hasn’t already been adequately covered. Though a recent Amazon search of mine did lead me to believe that there’s an opening for a book entitled “Raising Dust Bunnies…” something that I am rather good at!

4} I’m pretty sure that I have ADD, though I’ve never been diagnosed. I also have a brain that absorbs random bits of virtually useless information like a sponge. No one likes to play me in Trivial Pursuit…  🙁    {See, I told you I have ADD!}

3} I am a night owl & a very. heavy. sleeper.
In fact, I am so NOT a morning person, that there some days (when my husband works late, for instance) that I just skip them altogether?!

2} I’ve been to seminary, but don’t have anywhere near all the answers that I would like to have! {In fact, I may have walked away with MORE questions?!}

1} I’m a bit of a pop culture junkie… the remnants of my self-absorbed teenage years… It’s something that I’m slowly outgrowing, but that sometimes surprises my more conservative Christian friends. LOL (“How do you know about that/them/him/her/it?”)

So there ya have it! Nothing earth shattering…

I have walked a crazy and varied journey down a path to contentment, acceptance, and understanding. I am always willing to talk to anyone struggling with those areas… even though I’m pretty shy at first, once I feel comfortable with someone, it’s hard to get me to shut up again! 😉

Can’t wait to meet all of you that will be attending the Conference too!

  1. Loved reading these!! Great idea sharing all the random pics of you too!! Hope you have a blast!

  2. What a fun intro post 🙂 It will be lovely to meet you at the conference 🙂 I was the same way with my Bible classes – I walked away with more questions than answers. My poor hubby is a very patient man who has learned to sit and let me talk when I begin the conversation with “So I was reading this passage and…..” {grin}

  3. That was a fun read! I can relate to several things on your list!

  4. Thanks Renee! That is probably the most pictures you’ll ever see of ME on this blog! LOL Wish you were coming too… We’ll HAFTA plan to go to some conference/convention together one day!!!

  5. Thanks Aurie! I’m looking so forward to meeting you too! Aren’t husbands the best??? I’m not sure WHAT I would be believing if it weren’t for him keeping me grounded… 🙂

  6. Thanks Mary! It’s always so good to hear that I’m not alone in my idiosyncrasies! 😉

  7. i wish this was facebook and i could like each of those!! totally you and i love it!

  8. Oh Sherri! I can relate to #9! And I can attest that in fact you are hilarious!
