Out with the Old, In with the New: Scripture Memory

As the school year comes to a close for us… this is our last week of work, then we’ll take our standardized tests next week… I start sorting though things that worked and didn’t. Start tossing out/giving away/selling resources that didn’t work for us… and working to implement new techniques that I learned over the course of the year, purchasing supplements for curricula that I purchased at conventions, and reevaluating just how our year has gone.

Over the next few weeks… throughout this summer break, I hope to share with ya’ll just a few of the things we’ll be changing up for our next year, as well as how to handle change when it sometimes feels like other things… like failure or grasping for straws. 😉

I ‘spose this will kinda be a series! My first “official” one… So, I had to make a “button” ya know…

Ha ha! So for starters, I’m planning to “upgrade” our Scripture memory system.

Perhaps many of you use a system like ours…

{I use the term “system” very loosely there, obviously…}

As I am preparing to use more resources from Simply Charlotte Mason for the next year {more about that soon…} I’ve been spending quite a bit of time on that website and came across their awesome Scripture Memory System.

This looked just like the thing we needed, so I got busy choppin’ out those divider cards with tabs available as a free PDF on the site, picked up a card box from Walmart, and we’re ready to go!

In fact, we’re so eager to get started with this delightful new little box that we’re working on filing in the cards for memory verses we’ve learned this year from Matthew with our My Father’s World Exploring Countries & Cultures curriculum.

Have you seen this system before? Or maybe you’re even using it now! If so, be sure to let us know how it’s working for your family!

  1. Nice! I like that system. Thanks for the link to the free PDF…off to check it out now! BTW love your new series button!

  2. You’re most welcome Nicole! Hope it’s something ya’ll can try… We’ve already started using it & so far the kids love it!
