The 2:1 Conference and Me

It’s been about a week and a half since I left my “blogging family” at the 2:1 Conference behind.

Seriously. That’s how I feel about them.

I won my ticket to the very first 2:1 Conference and attended it with a mix of excitement and trepidation back in April of 2012. Excitement for the experience, trepidation because I. knew. no. one.

But the amazing relationships that I was privileged to forge continued online throughout the year and as I looked forward to the 2013 Conference, I wondered if I’d be able to afford to go. Then Cheryl asked for speaker submissions… which Danny encouraged me to consider submitting. So with an idea for a talk that the Lord had placed on my heart piece by piece, I sent off an email that read something like…

“Hi Cheryl, this is Sherri from ‘from our front porch lookin’ in…’ I’m not exactly sure of the proper way to submit a topic proposal to the organizer of a professional conference, but here’s the idea I’ve got…”

Needless to say, I was blown. a.way. when I received an invitation from her just a few weeks later to present my topic at the 2013 2:1 Conference?!

Obviously God wanted me to be there. Again.

And boy was I  ♥ b l e s s e d ♥!

I still have a hard time putting it into words, really… even though as we returned home, folks asked me how it went! Truthfully, a fully-descriptive blog post would be FAR too long, so the best that any of us can hope to do is summarize it.

Meeting all the great Conference partners and vendors… learning about new resources… and building potential business-blogging relationships felt so valuable. I am excited about some of the great materials that I was able to get my hands on to share with ya’ll in the coming months!

And of course, we worshiped together again. This year, to the glorious sounds of Chelsea Moon. Here’s a sampling of her work… wonderful “old” hymns, set to beautiful bluegrass-style music…

Seriously love her. My kids do too. Just in the time we’ve been back home, they’ve almost memorized her 1st album!

Of course, there are a few thank yous that I just have to throw out there for this wonderful weekend that I got to experience… first and foremost to my wonderful husband for giving our four kiddos such a great weekend with the Grandparents in my absence. {More posts about those adventures to come…} 😉

Secondly, to these two incredible gals…

Stef and Cheryl are not only awesome conference organizers and hosts, they are also just awesome people. They are both so approachable and are so easy to talk to. Beginning blogger… big-time blogger… new homeschooler or old, it doesn’t matter. The camaraderie with them is immediately comfortable and after just a coupla days, they feel like old friends. And what wonderful encouragers they are! I mentioned a few times how outta my league I felt, being there as a “speaker…” and both of them immediately made me not only feel more confident in what I had to present, but they also inspired me to own my value in being there. ♥ them.

And last, but certainly not least, this crew…

The 2:1 Conference Speakers!

{Front Row, L to R} Amy Roberts, Kris Bales, Me?! and Zan Tyler

I honestly sit and stare at that picture not believing that I was really standing there on par with the likes of these incredible women. Still, I praise the Lord above for His presenting this opportunity to me and I pray that I made Him glad. 🙂

The 2:1 Conference is more than just a social media or blogging conference… it is a wonderful community. If you’re a blogger and you’re looking for a community like this, you should really consider joining us next year……

I’m linking up with the rest of my 2:1 girls at the 2:1 Recap LinkUp! So if you think that I’m just gushin’ ‘cuz I was a speaker this year, head over there to read a few more posts about what a great conference this truly is!

Grace & Peace~
